Wicked

A twisted story of friendship, love and the fate. Elphaba, the quiet girl with a big fate, comes to school to look after her sister who is very bright and is in a wheel chair, no knowing that she will become so much more. Galinda, the popular and gregorious girl, is very excited to find out she has her own room, until Elphaba is assigned to her room. Two girls, opposite in personality and in morals, are forced to live together and soon to settle their differences. Soon enough they learn that the other is not all that bad and they become friends, although this seems as if it is the perfect ending, Elphaba is secretly falling for Galinda’s boyfriend. She does not show it, she would rather keep her friendship with Galinda. Elpahaba has a dream, to be with the wizard, but when things start to get out of hand, her dream starts to seem far off. She has an amazing talent of magic, and when the wizard realizes what she has, he wants to use her, but in a bad way. Soon, word gets out that it is Elpahba that is creating all the problems and people start to hate her. This tests Elphaba’s and Galinda’s friendship, and neither of them know whether or not they can still be friends at the end. Soon they realize that they are still a lot different than each other and staying together may not be the best and safest idea. By Elphaba running it makes the people think she truly is guilty and they all hate her. The tin man was turned into tin when Elphaba‘s sister casts a spell and it went wrong, she was ruler of munchkin land but they were unhappy under her rule. The scarecrow is said to be Elphaba‘s lover, Fiyero. Fiyero and Galinda were a couple when they all went to school before Elphaba was presumed wicked. Elphaba was an animals rights activists, was angry when the animals were losing their ability to speak so in her attempt to save her professor, a lion, she accidently turns him into a full lion who is able to speak but is cowardly. Those three characters along with Dorothy set off in the classic adventure of “Wizard of Oz.” Although Elphaba and Galinda were very close friends, they still had different morals which led them in the opposite directions of each other. “Wicked” puts a twist on the classic wicked witch of the west.
